Rachel Thompson, PhD

Director

Rachel Thompson is AfIRI’s Director. She is committed to an interdisciplinary approach to scholarship and conducts her research projects with this in mind. Rachel’s research focuses on cultural values and political discourse in Ghana’s electronic media and social media. Another area that is of interest to Rachel is communication in healthcare. She is passionate not only about looking into interactions between healthcare providers and patients but also about communication technology and social media opportunities and implications for healthcare systems in developing countries. Rachel provides leadership for the projects and activities of AfIRI.

Isaac Yeboah, PhD

Research Coordinator

Isaac Yeboah is the Research Coordinator of AfIRI. Isaac is a demographer and population scientist with variety of skills and experience ranging from community and national levels of conducting research, monitoring, supervising, analyzing and interpreting social, demographic and health research to data analysis, management and report writing. Isaac’s areas of research include mortality-fertility nexus, population health, family planning, HIV and AIDS and key population health. He has comprehensive technical knowledge of using quantitative and qualitative statistical packages such as SPSS, STATA, ATLAS.ti and NVivo.

Wisdom Agbadi

Principal Administrator

Wisdom Agbadi is the Principal Administrator of AfIRI. Wisdom has a strong background in general office management, organizational development, accounting and finance. The Principal Administrator is responsible for coordinating activities with AfIRI research fellows and our individual and institution research partners. The Principal Administrator also oversees fiscal operations and supervises all other administrative staff members of AfIRI.

Promise Alorgbe

Administrator

Promise Alorgbe is the office administrator of AfIRI. He obtained his first degree in public administration from university of Ghana. He possesses a strong communication and organizational skills coupled with administrative experience over the period. Promise is responsible for managing day-to- day administrative functions of the institute, supporting the execution of various projects and assisting in maintaining organizational compliance with regulatory requirements. 

Justice Kyem Owusu

Business Support Officer

Justice Kyem Owusu is the Business Support Officer of AfIRI. He obtained his Bachelor's degree in Political Science Education from the University of Education, Winneba. Justice ensures efficient office operations at AfIRI. Before he joined AfIRI he worked as an administrative assistant at Ghana National Petroleum Cooperation. He is committed to excellent research in diverse fields

Mark Kwaku Gyasi

Technical Officer

Mark Gyasi is the Information and Technology Officer of AfIRI. He has over 8 years of experience in providing technical and strategic leadership for the performance of Information Technology functions in various sectors. Mark is responsible for leading all digital innovations, improving efficiency and maintaining reliable, secure, and solid IT infrastructure at AfIRI. Also, he is responsible for offering practical solutions and hands-on guidance to new technologies for AfIRI staff, research scholars, and associates

Nana Yaw Sarfo Debrah

Study Coordinator

Nana Yaw Sarfo Debrah holds a Degree in Psychology from the University of Ghana and a Certificate in Forensic and Investigative Psychology. He is a dedicated educator and researcher currently serving as a AfIRI  Study Coordinator. He is dedicated to coordinating evidence-based research, ensuring impactful and meaningful contributions to knowledge
